      a number of cultures have adopted the traditional Western custom of the white wedding, in which a bride wears a white wedding dress andveil. This tradition was popularized through the wedding of Queen Victoria. Some say Victoria's choice of a white gown may have simply been a sign of extravagance, but may have also been influenced by the values she held which emphasized sexual purity. Within the modern 'white wedding' tradition, a white dress and veil are unusual choices for a woman's second or subsequent wedding.

    The use of a wedding ring has long been part of religious weddings in Europe and America, but the origin of the tradition is unclear. One possibility is the Roman belief in the Vena Amoris, which was believed to be a blood vessel that ran from the fourth finger (ring finger) directly to the heart, thus when a couple wore rings on this finger their hearts were connected. Historian Vicki Howard points out that the belief in the "ancient" quality of the practice is most likely a modern invention. "Double ring" ceremonies are also a modern practice, a groom's wedding band not appearing in the United States until the early 20th century.

Do you know? Shopping for a wedding dress is strange. You have to make an appointment. You're expected to bring family and friends. The salespeople say things like, "You'll remember this forever."

When I bought my dress a few months ago, I couldn't stop thinking about how emotional it all was — and how expensive.

To figure out why wedding dresses cost so much, I went to ..., a big trade show for the wedding-dress industry.

That's where I met Anne Barge, who has been designing wedding dresses for over 20 years. She has her own line, and she also designs for the Badgley Mischka label.

"It's not just a white dress," she says. It's the fabric, and it's the workmanship, and it's the lining, and it's the fit." Ho!

She points me to a dress on one of her many racks. The dress was made with 25 yards of pure silk satin in it; that material costs $100 a yard, she says. The embroidery on top comes from India; it costs thousands more, Barge says.

That adds up to real money, but it doesn't account for the total price tag: $8,000.(very expensive!)

A lot of that extra cost comes down to the word "wedding."

Just to add on to what Mattyr1974 reviewed, yes it is a 5.00 balaclava about the price of a subway sammich so think of it as disposable. It fits like second skin just enough to cut the chilly air in MN when I am on the sportbike heading to work or to wear as a sweat barrier on hot track days. I like a snugger fitting helmet and this balaclava does not make my helmet fit any tighter. The only item I would like to elaborate on is the lack of neck protection from the wind or cold. There is not enough to tuck into my jacket, take into account I wear a XXL helmet and have a 18.5" neck so it might just be me. Oh yes, and the fit around your eyes is sloppy like the photo shows and the stitching is bunched at your nose. If you are looking for good neck coverage and a custom fit check out another balaclava that I did a review on. In conclusion this is a fantastic, thin, disposable 5 dollar balaclava.

I loved this purse. I lusted after it for about a month. It was going to be over $150 after S&H. Finally just went for it. It was a little bigger than I thought it was going to be. Got this for my boyfriend, who lives in Pittsburgh, back in February. He says it works well enough to keep his face warm when it's snowing, but after a few weeks, even after repeated washings, it started to stink pretty badly. The three I purchased came shipped in perfect condition. We went skiing in the mountains of NC with temperatures around 35 degrees. Temperatures at the top of the mountain had to be in the upper-20s, with winds gusting ferociously on the way up the lift. The facemask served the purpose 100%. Too bad there was no fresh snow
